PHYSICIAN DEVICE INTERACTION

The MBP contains an implantable grade wireless radio to communicate with a base station near the patient. This low-power radio has a range of 2 meters and is approved for use in implanted medical devices such as pacemakers and drug pumps. The wireless link permits patients and medical practitioners to interact with the functions of the implant via the care provider’s personal computer or handheld device. The clinician can monitor real-time and historical sensor data as well as modify the delivery schedule.
