Area of Expertise: Building medical device companies from concept through commercial acquisition by major industry players.

Ronald Solar has designed and developed medical devices for over 25 years and currently holds 37 US Patents and a significant number of foreign patents. Dr. Solar was a cofounder of three very successful medical device companies, Versaflex Delivery Systems, Inc.; Occam International, B.V.; and MEDgination, Inc. He also played a key role in the successful start up of two other very successful medical device companies, SciMed Life Systems, Inc. and Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. In 1989, Dr. Solar was recognized by President George H. W. Bush as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans, and Junior Chamber International selected him as one of the Ten Outstanding Young People of the World for his contributions in medical innovation. Dr. Solar received his PhD in Biomaterials and Materials Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977.
