Biography
Area of Expertise: Formation of strategic research and technical alliances between PKC and academic institutions.
Mehdi Hatamian received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Arya-Mehr University of Technology in Tehran, Iran in 1977 and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1978 and 1982 respectively. From 1978 to 1982, he worked for one of NASA’s Space Shuttle programs, developing hardware and software designs to support in-flight biomedical experiments. From 1982 to 1991, he was a member of the Visual Communications Research and the VLSI Systems Research departments of Bell Laboratories where he became a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff in 1988. From 1991 to 1996, he was Vice-President of Technology at Silicon Design Experts, Inc., a company he co-founded in 1991. In 1996, he joined Broadcom Corporation where he is now the Vice President of Engineering, DSP Microelectronics. Broadcom (NASDAQ: BRCM) is a provider of highly integrated silicon solutions that enable broadband digital transmission of voice, video and data to and throughout the home and within the business enterprise.
Dr. Hatamian specializes in the area of high-speed VLSI signal processing, full-custom and low power circuit and architecture design, adaptive filtering, high-density deep sub-micron CMOS design, image processing, high temperature superconductors and biomedical electronics. in his areas of expertise and holds 20 issued patents with several patents pending. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) whose technical objectives center on advancing the theory and practice of electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering and computer science. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences and other professional activities in his field as an organizer, session chair, panelist, invited lecturer and moderator. He is on the board of directors of Panacea Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Star-E-Media, Inc. and GuardianCam. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Smart Medical Technologies, Inc., a company founded in 2003 specializing in advanced medical devices and medical information management. |
