Biography
Area of Expertise: Skull-based Tumors, Pineal Tumors, Pituitary Tumors and Meningiomas.
Dr. Jeffrey N. Bruce received his M.D. in 1983 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He served as a medical staff fellow in the Surgical Neurology Branch of the National Institutes of Health before completing a neurosurgery residency program at the Neurological Institute at Columbia Medical Center. Following completion of his residency, he remained on staff as a professor of neurosurgery at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was program director for neuro-oncology in the Columbia Cancer Center and the director of the Bartoli Brain Tumor Research Laboratory at Columbia where he lead an National Institutes of Health-funded translational brain tumor research effort.
His neuro-oncologic research interests include gene therapy, immunotherapy, and drug delivery systems with an emphasis on clinical applications.
In addition to his laboratory research interests, he is actively involved in organizing experimental clinical protocols for the treatment of brain tumors. He is a past president of the New York Society for Neurosurgery and served on the editorial boards of Neurosurgery, Current Surgery, and the Journal of Radiosurgery. Additionally, he served on the executive board of the Joint Section on Tumors for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Scientific Advisory Council for the American Brain Tumor Association. |
