Biography
Herwin Chan received his Ph.D. in Embedded Systems from UCLA in 2007. With his thesis titled "Accelerating Applications through Cross-Layer Co-Design.", he has successfully applied this system level design approach to several multimillion dollar projects in the areas of communications, cryptography and security. Herwin has authored eleven refereed publications, including two journal articles and one book chapter, and has won first prize the prestigious 2006 ISSCC/DAC student design contest with the entry title "Demonstration of Uncoordinated Access in Optical Communications". His academic pursuits have taken him around the world working with Mitsubishi Electric in Japan, IMEC in Belgium, Broadcom in the United States and the Secure Embedded Systems group at Virginia Tech. He is a member of the IEEE and an active reviewer for the DAC conference, DATE conference, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine. |
