PATENT ISSUED ON PKC TUMORFIGHTER™

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA, September 15, 2009 – Pharmaco-Kinesis Corporation (PKC), an advanced medical device company developing smart local drug delivery systems, today reported that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent covering the fundamental technology of the Company’s TumorFighter™ technology.

The patent, entitled Apparatus for Piezoelectric Layer-Wise Pump and Valve for Use in Local Administration of Biological Response Modifiers and Therapeutic Agents (patent no. US 7,569,051 B2), is the first to be issued among nine major patents the Company has filed.

“The intellectual property protection afforded by the issuance of this patent represents a significant milestone for PKC,” said Josh Shachar, Founder, Director and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of Pharmaco-Kinesis. “We expect to receive patent protection for additional technologies the company is developing as we begin the testing and miniaturization of several applications of the TumorFighter technology.”

The first two applications of the TumorFighter™ technology are for:

The Magnetic Breather Pump Toolkit (MBP-TK), which is designed as an R&D tool used in animal trials for new drug development. The MBP-TK consists of an implantable pump with a smart catheter for delivery of up to three medications directly to a tumor site.

MBP for Leolomengingeal Carcinomtosis, or cancer of the spinal fluid. Approximately 5% of all patients diagnosed with cancer contract this metastatic condition. Currently, there is no cure for Leolomengingeal Carcinomtosis. The condition is nearly always fatal within six to nine months of diagnosis.

Additional applications of the MBP will be for treatment of glioblastoma and other aggressive brain tumors, which currently have no cure, and for pancreatic cancer.

“This patent brings PKC one important step closer to commercialization of the MBP,” said Frank Adell, Founder, President and CEO of PKC. “We are taking the measures necessary to build strong protection of PKC’s intellectual property prior to developing strategic partnerships that maximize the shareholder value of the technologies that PKC is developing.”
